The awards, sponsored by Ford Foundation, are intended to recognize and support promising Indonesian scholars currently pursuing their Doctoral degrees in any university in Indonesia who will make outstanding contributions to the betterment of Indonesia through their innovative, visionary, and high-impact doctoral research proposals.

The awards are given to Indonesia’s best thinkers and problem solvers who, through their research proposals, are able to identify and address the most critical issues that have serious effects to a large scope of Indonesian society, as well as to formulate and suggest innovative and viable solutions. The ability in addressing the issues using transdisciplinary approach will be given special attention.

The awards provide research allowance to outstanding Doctoral candidates from any fields of study whose research proposals have been approved. The allowance will primarily support research as part of their study completion (including data collection and/or analyses).
